Alberto Calva
Alberto Calva has a Bachelor of Industrial Engineering, a Master of Economics, and an MBA with a major in finance. He is, without a doubt, one of the most experienced financial advisors and financial modeller in the market, as well as one of the few with continuous international professional activity.
Alberto has over 25 years of business experience as an executive, board member, and entrepreneur. In these 25 years, he has successfully managed his company through four macroeconomic crises. Early in his career, he was part of the executive team, which assisted to avoid the bankruptcy of a manufacturing company.
Alberto has taught part-time in graduate business school since 1989 at the Tecnologico de Monterrey and ITAM. He wrote and published the book "What every executive should know about finance". He has written over 400 articles on finance and business.
Alberto Calva practices primarily in Canada and Mexico and in other countries on certain projects.
Jorge Miranda
Jorge is a CPA-licensed professional in Mexico with extensive experience in transactions in the public and private sectors in Mexico and Canada. He has extensive experience in analyzing and planning business strategies and in negotiating contracts and developing business relationships.
Likewise, Jorge has broad experience in the development and coordination of highly complex joint audit processes. Jorge currently coordinates several audits strictly related to the oil and gas sector, which require a high degree of specialization. Before joining SMPS, Jorge founded Solorzano Corporation and acquired over 16 years of experience in the administration and accounting of companies in both Mexico and Canada.
Jorge holds a degree in Public Accounting from the University of Guanajuato in Mexico and obtained a Diploma in Business Administration at the Technological Institute of Monterrey in Mexico in 2001.
Carlos Solórzano
Carlos is a licensed lawyer in Mexico, residing in Calgary with a vast experience in Latin America, specialized in oil and gas, real estate, and foreign investment structuring. His practice focuses primarily on providing effective and sound advice for secure access to North and Latin American jurisdictions, as well as selecting, negotiating, developing, and implementing strategic alliances and joint ventures for his clients. Carlos has also represented numerous clients in dispute-resolution matters.
Before SMPS, Carlos served for several years at a top-tier Canadian and Mexican law firms assisting several clients in successfully establishing their businesses internationally.
Carlos also has worked for and with governmental agencies advising with economic affairs and providing investors with guidelines for conducting business internationally. Carlos obtained his degree in Law from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) in 1998. He also holds a Philosophy Diploma from Universidad Panamericana.
He participated in the Private, Public Partnerships Course and the Private Equity Transactions Course of Osgoode Law School, York University, in the years 2006 and 2007, respectively, and the Alternative Dispute Resolutions Course in Alberta, Canada, in the year 2007.
Philip Haynes
Philip’s practice specializes in providing Canadian tax compliance and advisory services to a wide range of corporate and individual clients, including foreign investors and business immigrants to Canada, with a focus on owner managed and privately held businesses. With over 14 years of experience in personal and corporate tax, business management and regulatory compliance, Philip has developed a diversified skill set that encompasses tax, accounting, financial analysis, business advisory and client audit representation.
Philip holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting from Athabasca University.

Juan Carlos Pimentel
Juan Carlos is a licensed lawyer in Mexico who obtained his Law Degree from the Universidad Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo in 2009. He currently resides in Calgary and specializes in corporate law, particularly with companies in the service industry.
Juan Carlos has vast experience in the incorporation and registration of companies, with expertise in preparing all necessary documents for businesses operating in Mexico and Canada. Before joining SMPS, he spent seven years working at the Tribunal Electoral del Estado de Michoacán.
Miguel Hernández
Miguel holds a Bachelor's degree in Law and in Actuarial Science. He has studied graduate programs in the insurance field at top Universities such as IPADE, Universidad de Barcelona and UNAM.
He has over 30 years of professional experience in which he has held important managerial roles enabled him to develop a deep and practical knowledge of the corporate and financial sectors, with a particular emphasis on traditional and digital business development for regulatory compliance. Additionally, he possesses expertise in various domains, including actuarial process enhancement, the creation of financial and statistical models, project sustainability assessments, recruitment strategies, commercial design, implementation, and contract structuring.
Miguel's expertise lies in financial areas encompassing regulatory processes, reserve sufficiency models, reinsurance contracts, compensation process termination, regulation enforcement, regulatory coordination, procedural frameworks, and audit procedures. Furthermore, he possesses hands-on experience in coordinating comprehensive financial and operational evaluations for mergers involving major corporations.
In addition to the above, he is an active member of the Mexican Association of Actuaries and the National Association of Private Hospitals.
Carlos Espinosa
Carlos Espinosa is an executive with over 30 years of experience within Canadian capital markets, mining international business development and commercial banking.
Carlos has served as Interim President, CEO and Director of TSXV and LSE listed companies overseeing mining operations internationally.
Between 2011 and 2015 Carlos joined the Toronto Stock Exchange (TSX) and TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV) as Head, Business Development, Global Mining. He was responsible to attract Canadian and international private or public mining companies to go public or dual listing on TSX or TSXV.
Carlos has an extensive and successful record assisting Latin American companies doing business or raising equity in Canada, as well as assisting Canadian companies with interests in Latin America.
From 1999 to 2008 Carlos was posted as Deputy Trade Commissioner of Mexico in Toronto promoting trade and investment between Mexico and Canada in several sectors, including mining, manufacturing, automotive, plastics and electronics.
Carlos holds an MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Business Administration at UNAM - “Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico”.
